We take a look at the best young players in LALIGA to look out for in the 2024/25 season. We have scoured the Spanish league for the best wonderkids who have the potential to have their breakthrough season and become first-team regulars at their respective clubs.
We've imposed some rules on our LALIGA wonderkid list in that all players must be 19 or under before the start of the season on Saturday 17th August 2024. In other words, they must be born after 18th August 2004.
15. Eman Kospo (Barcelona)
If there was one silver lining to Barcelona's recent financial woes, it's the plethora of young La Masia graduates who have been given opportunities to shine in LALIGA regularly.
With next season looking no different, the Swiss wonderkid of Bosnia and Herzegovina descent, Eman Kospo, could become the next unknown name to graduate from La Masia and become a regular feature in Barcelona's first-team squad.
Hailed as one of the best talents that Switzerland has ever produced, Eman Kospo is a defender who, like Pau Cubarsi, displays a composure beyond his years. Should Barcelona face departures at centre-back and injuries, Kospo could add his name to the ever-growing list of Barcelona wonderkids to insert themselves into the Barcelona starting XI.
14. Alex Perez (Real Betis)
The little-known Real Betis defender is yet to make a senior appearance, but those in the background at the Spanish club are quietly optimistic about this 1.93m tall centre back to become a force for Real Betis.
Whilst the 2024/25 season may come too soon for this young Betis wonderkid, if this youngster keeps impressing in the youth team he could get his opportunity to shine in the latter stages of the season.
13. Beto (Real Madrid)
Diego Martínez Pérez, otherwise known as Beto Martínez or just Beto for short, is a Spain U-17 international who is exciting scouts across Spain.
Beto is a central midfielder who possesses a technique that resembles some of LALIGA's finest.
Whilst the youngster is still playing for the Real Madrid S17 team, there is talk of the youngster being fast-tracked to begin training with Ancelotti's first team.
With the likes of Modric, Kroos, and Bellingham around him, we believe this youngster could go on to be a mainstay in Real Madrid's midfield in the future.
12. Pau Prim (Barcelona)
Barcelona's next Sergio Busquets is already in the pipeline. This youngster has already captained Spain at youth level, and his appearances for Barcelona B have caught the eye of Barcelona's first-team coaches.
Pau Prim is a traditional number 6 who bears resemblance to Busquets for a reason. He is two-footed and defensively minded, and unlike Gavi and Pedri, Prim is more interested in the 'gritty' side of the game, acting selflessly as a pivot, and smartly breaking up play when needed.
This youngster is high up on our list due to the skill set he possesses, and the immediate need in Barcelona's first team. 2024/25 could be Pau Prim's breakthrough season.
11. Jano Monserrate (Real Zaragoza)
Jano Monserrate is an attacking-minded midfielder who has already impressed for Spain's youth teams.
With Real Zaragoza loitering in the second division in Spain, Monserrate features on the wish list of many LALIGA youth scouts this summer.
The youngster has a resemblance to Barcelona's Gavi, and if he can find a team willing to give him first-team LALIGA football, he could become a formidable senior midfielder in no time.
10. Dani Pérez (Real Betis)
Real Betis has become a hub for young Spanish talent of late.
It's a club where youth can develop without the pressures that come with the weight of the badges of Barcelona and Real Madrid. Dani Pérez, a young midfielder who has already starred 29 times for the Betis B team, is impressing coaches and scouts alike in Seville.
The youngster also caught the attention of Spain's youth teams, featuring 12 times for the U-17s and 2 times for the U-18s. Pérez is surely set for a promotion to Betis' first team in 2024/25, and is one to watch.
9. Marc Bernal (Barcelona)
Barcelona harbours high hopes for 16-year-old midfielder Marc Bernal, eyeing him as the next La Masia prodigy to break into the senior team.
Amidst a season where Barcelona's youth talent has shone brightly, with notable mentions like Hector Fort, Pau Cubarsi, Lamine Yamal, and Marc Guiu under Xavi’s leadership, Bernal's potential ascent is eagerly anticipated.
The club’s strategy involves Bernal completing the season under Rafa Marquez's guidance before integrating him into the first team for the pre-season, with aspirations of him securing a permanent spot for the 2024/25 season.
8. Héctor Fort (Barcelona)
Héctor Fort is an attacking right-back who featured in a handful of games for Xavi's Barcelona in LALIGA 23/24 season.
The youngster looks set to fight Jules Kounde for a place in the first team next season, as well as gaining his first senior international cap for Spain.
This young, technical, and dynamic full-back is one LALIGA wonderkid to watch in 2024/25.
7. Marc Guiu (Barcelona)
Already starting LALIGA for Xavi's Barcelona in 2024, the biggest compliment you can pay Marc Guiu is that he did not look out of place on one of Europe's biggest stages.
With Barcelona's financial issues still looming large, developing La Masia graduates such as Guiu could be their ticket out of trouble. Guiu will undoubtedly continue to impress and develop in LALIGA 2024/25.
6. Assane Diao (Real Betis)
In Assane Diao Real Betis have a real gem. This winger already has an incredible set of attributes which make him a force on the wing for Betis, and is set to attract some interested this summer.
If Real Betis can hold on to Assane Diao for the 2024/25 season, who has made over 20 appearances in LALIGA this season, he could be set for a breakthrough season.
5. Arthur Vermeeren (Atlético Madrid)
Belgium can look forward to more talent in the pipeline for their national team.
Arthur Vermeeren, a product of the Royal Antwerp Academy, moved to Atlético Madrid in January 2024 for a reported €18 million plus €5 million in add-ons.
Naturally earning comparisons to compatriot Kevin De Bruyne, Vermeeren is very much his own player.
Described as a playmaker who can sit deeper, with an impressive passing range, the 2024/25 season could be the season where Vermeeren becomes a centre-piece in Simeone's new-look Atléti.
4. Pau Cubarsí (Barcelona)
Dubbed Barcelona's 'next Gerard Piqué', Cubarsí maturity, discipline, and calmness have impressed everybody at the Catalan club.
Cubarsí has become a pillar at the back for Barcelona, with 2024/25 looking like the season whereby the La Masia graduate becomes a household name across Europe.
3. Vitor Roque (Barcelona)
A league renowned for elevating Brazilian wonderkids to stardom, LALIGA has another Seleção wonderkid to add to its history books. Having joined Barcelona officially in 2023, Vitor Roque has had to wait to get his opportunity to shine in the first team.
Still just 19 years old, Vitor Roque will undoubtedly be looking to learn from the great Robert Lewandowski, to eventually replace him in Barcelona's starting XI.
2. Arda Guler (Real Madrid)
It didn't take long for Fenerbahçe wonderkid to gain the attention of Real Madrid. Joining for a minimal fee of €20 million, Arda Guler could prove to be one of the best value-for-money signings in LALIGA's history.
The youngster has inevitably drawn comparisons to Lionel Messi for his stature and low centre of gravity, but has a long way to go until he's truly fulfilling his potential. The 2024/25 LALIGA season is a pivotal moment in his career, although it may depend on one of Real Madrid's integral midfielders suffering injury for the Turkish wonderkid to shine.
1. Endrick (Real Madrid)
After scoring against England and then Spain in just a matter of days during the March international break, Endrick is already showing his ability to net on football's biggest stages. Set to finally join Real Madrid from Palmeiras this summer, Endrick is set to light up LALIGA next summer.
